The Man from the Ocean is finally here! I’ve been dreaming of this novel for years and writing it for almost as long. It started out as a vague idea related to deja vu and evolved from there to become what it is today: a modern-day technology sci-fi book that’s really a story about family, friendships, and a revolution.

This novel has something for everyone: mystery, suspense, drama, a little romance, and one of my personal favorites, a found-family. Its gorgeous cover art was designed by my very good friend, Julia Park. Keep reading for the synopsis and check out my Books page to see where you can purchase The Man from the Ocean!

Olivia Murphy’s world turns blood-red on a stormy October morning. Olivia believes the unnerving vision is a product of her exhausted and overworked brain, until she wakes up after fainting in her cubicle.

Hospital scans reveal nothing, but eerie dreams plague Olivia, and she feels an overwhelming pull toward a building in San Francisco’s Financial District. What she finds when she gets there is the swanky Survivor Institute, full of residents who’ve had experiences much like hers.

Within her first half-hour at the institute, Olivia is shocked to discover there is a failing computer chip implanted in her brain. Not only that, but the deteriorating piece of technology will kill her if the institute’s staff can’t find a solution.

While she continues to experience alarming symptoms linked to her implant’s shutdown, Olivia has visions of a bleeding man on the bank of a creek—a man who seems so familiar. As their fellow residents start dying, Olivia and her new found-family, the quirky and handsome Jed Henley and fiercely intelligent and kind Akiko Sato, race to unearth the institute’s secrets.

But as the truth surfaces and a past Olivia doesn’t remember comes to light, it’s clear The Survivor Institute holds a greater darkness than she ever could have imagined. Now Olivia and her friends must stop it before it silences the remaining residents forever.
